Scheduling Your Electric
Service for Construction or Renovation
When building or renovating,
remember to include Gibson Electric Membership Corporation in your
planning process. We want to provide you with electric service when you need
it.

Requirements
 |
Please
notify Gibson EMC 30 days prior to electricity being needed in order to
obtain underground utility clearance and complete engineering and construction
work. |

We must obtain the following billing
information: |
Name
Social security number Telephone number
Mailing
address Credit information
 |
We must obtain the following location
information: |
911 address
Directions to the site
 |
The site must be marked to show where the new
construction will stand. Manufactured homes should
be onsite. |
Once Gibson EMC has the above
information, our field engineer will visit the job site within five working
days. Should more information be needed, the field engineer will contact you.
Once engineering is complete, a letter will be sent advising you of any
construction charges and available methods of payment.
State
Requirements
 |
State law
requires that a sewer permit must be obtained from either the health
department or
local city
hall. You must present this sewer permit at Gibson EMC when purchasing your electrical permit.

Electrical
permits must be purchased at the Gibson EMC Customer Service Center serving
the area where construction is located. Payment may be made by cash, check
or money order, with checks or money orders made payable to Gibson EMC. A
copy of the electrical permit should be placed in the meter base for
the state electrical inspector. |

Please call
Tennessee One Call (800-351-1111) 72 hours prior to doing any excavation so
that
all
underground utilities can be located and marked. Tennessee One Call
notifications for excavation performed by Gibson EMC will be handled by our
employees.

There must
be an inspection by a State electrical inspector. (Rough-in -- no insulation
or wall covering installed. Final -- all panel covers, face covers, etc.,
installed.)

When
Your Wiring is Complete
 |
Call Gibson EMC to
schedule an inspection by a State electrical inspector. |
 |
Once final
inspection is passed and arrangements are made for payment of charges, Gibson
EMC will schedule your meter to be set. |
 |
If wiring does not
pass inspection, you are required by law to purchase another permit and have
the wiring re-inspected. |
